When you submit an enquiry or quote form we collect the details you provide: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you are interested in and your message. We use these solely to respond to your enquiry, arrange an inspection, provide a quote, and carry out and guarantee any work you ask us to do. If you call or message us on WhatsApp, we hold your number and the messages for the same purposes.
For security and anti-spam, our systems also process limited technical data when you submit a form: your IP address, used for rate-limiting to prevent abuse. This data is used only to protect the service and is not used to profile you.
We process enquiry data because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to potential customers and protecting our website from abuse (Article 6(1)(f)). Analytics and advertising cookies, where used, are set only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate: Resend (our email delivery provider, which transmits your enquiry to us), Vercel (our website hosting provider), ntfy (which sends the instant alert of a new enquiry to our phone — see below), and Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads, only if you accept cookies — see below). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security commitments. We may also disclose data where required by law.
When you send an enquiry, the details you enter — your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service and area you chose and your message — are also sent, with the internet (IP) address the enquiry came from, as an instant alert to our phone through the ntfy service (ntfy.sh), so we see a new enquiry straight away. ntfy holds each alert for up to 12 hours, so that it still reaches the phone if the phone is briefly offline, and then removes it.
We keep enquiry records only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any resulting work, plus the period required for legal, accounting, insurance and workmanship-guarantee purposes. Our written guarantees run for 15 years, so records of guaranteed work are kept for at least the guarantee period. Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted once they are clearly closed.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above — we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We ask before storing any analytics or advertising cookies. A banner on your first visit lets you accept or decline the cookies used by two Google services. Google Analytics measures how the site is used — which pages are read, and whether a visit leads to a call, a WhatsApp message or an enquiry. Google Ads measures whether a visit that began with one of our Google adverts led to an enquiry, so we can see which adverts work; Google may also use that data to decide which of our adverts to show you. If you accept, Google sets its cookies for those purposes. If you decline — or simply ignore the banner — both services run in a cookieless mode (Google's consent mode with analytics and advertising storage denied): no cookies are set, no profile of you is built, and only anonymous, aggregated signals are received. You can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie choices” link in the footer.
Our hosting platform (Vercel) also records anonymous, cookieless page-speed and visit statistics that cannot identify you and run whether or not you accept the banner. Essential technical storage may also be used by the platform to serve the site securely.
